New Partnership with Cambridge Auto Repair Specialist (CARS)

We have some exciting news! We have worked out a deal with Cambridge Auto Repair Specialist (CARS) to work on our members vehicles for $75/hour, less than you were paying at our location on Stoughton Road.  They have offered us a very generous profit sharing plan.  The more people who service their cars in Cambridge the more money that comes back to PrairieFire.  We are also working hard to get our fueling tanks up and running in their shop. Hopefully this will be our first of many locations to sell fuel around the greater Madison area.

They have a very good service shop and they can work on all makes and models. This includes diesel and gas vehicles. You must have a current membership with PrairieFire in order to take advantage of this deal.  To renew your membership, click on Becoming a Member to the left.

Due to the location of Cambridge, we are hoping our network of members will help with rides to and from the shop.  If you need a ride send an email to members (at) prairiefirebiofuels.org to ahead of time. Hopefully someone will be in the area to help you out.

March 2010: PFBF Fundraiser, March 21 (5:00-9:00pm), Brink Lounge

Help Keep Your Local Biofuels Co-op Open!

On March 21 at the Brink Lounge, Prairie Fire is holding a fund-raiser in support of its new direction. Here's how the evening will go:

 

5:00pm: Doors open. Grab a bite to eat and a drink.

6:00-9:00pm: be entertained by local musicians and peruse items in a silent auction

 

We hope you and your family can join us for music, food, beer and fun! This will be a kid-friendly event. Stay tuned for information on entertainment.

 

Membership: Meanwhile, you can show your support of the co-op by signing up for or renewing your membership. This is a sure way to invest in Prairie Fire's future while ensuring access to biodiesel and veggie oil. The cost is $75 for 6 months and $125 for 1 year. Please send a check to P.O. Prairie Fire Update

Hello PrairieFire,

A few weeks ago we had a membership meeting and had a lot of discussion about PrairieFire's future.  We had a good turn out and we had quite a few people pledge money to help the cause. We have been working hard to come up with a plan to secure money to pay debt and to find fueling and shop options. We are hopeful we will have a fueling location and a shop to refer you to in the near future.

February 6th - Glass Nickel Pizza (2916 Atwood Ave..Madison)

The bands The Pinch and The Avoca Dos will be playing and some of the proceeds for the event will go to PrairieFire.  It will be a good time and go to a good cause.  The opening band comes on at 10:30.

Major Fundraiser - Beginning of March

Three of our members (Norah Cashin, Mary Eberle, and Kate Moran) have stepped up and are working on organizing the fund raiser  The date a location is not yet known. but we will inform you as soon as we know the details.  If you would like to help with it, or would like to donate to a silent auction please get in touch with Mary Eberle. We will have more information about the fundraiser to come.

Shop temorarily closing...call NOW to schedule last minute work

Please call if you would like your vehicle serviced in the next week by
Luke.  The last day to book an appointment will be Wednesday, December 9th.
We regret to inform you that our organization is in a position where we need
to change locations for our shop and fuel operations.  Our Stoughton road
location will not support fueling of any kind, biodiesel or WVO.  Since the
primary focus of our mission is to provide access to these types of fuels,
our lack of success bringing you these fuels has severely hurt the viability
of the shop to run a profitable business out of this location.

In short, PrairieFire must temporarily put our equipment in storage while we
re-structure the business and find a more appropriate location that can
support our fueling operations.  We regret that in the process of
re-structuring, PrairieFire will not have an open shop to service your
vehicle.  We will provide you a list of experienced professionals in the
Madison area with whom you should be able to receive competent service.
Please stay tuned to our website (www.pfbf.org) and to email updates
regarding a membership meeting to help us better serve you again in 2010.

If you have any work that you believe you would like Luke to address before
we leave this location, please do not hesitate to call us at 441-5454.
Volunteers will try to staff the phones during the next week so that Luke
can focus on working on as many member cars as needed before we suspend shop
operations temporarily until the spring.

Thank you for your continued support during what has been a rough transition
for our cooperative.  We look forward to a more vibrant biofuels business
(with fuel!) in the spring of 2010.
